The $731.1 million Powerball ticket
In January, the Powerball jackpot got to $731.1 million, then that month, one ticket won the jackpot. However, the winners did not come forward to claim their prize immediately. It took them four months to claim their prize and, they chose to stay anonymous with the nickname “The Power Pack”.
They could have chosen to get paid in instalments, but they opted for the lump sum of $546.8 million (after-tax). This Powerball winner was shocked because the ticket was the only ticket he bought for that drawing. The “Power Pack” said they did not plan to change their lifestyles and would invest their winnings.
Worthy of note is that they bought only one ticket. They bought the ticket in a small community in Maryland, in the US. It does take just one ticket to win the jackpot.
This Powerball winner claimed a $286 million jackpot prize
The winner of the Powerball jackpot prize for the drawing held on June 5, 2021, was Clay Tousey. This winner is a 69-year-old man from Ponte Vedra Beach. He is also the trustee of The Love You More Trust and the ticket was bought for the Trust.
The trust also decided to receive a one-time lump sum cash payment of $196,706,252.17 (after-tax). The Florida Lottery said that the Trust was the 16th winner in Florida.
23-year-old Powerball winner
Another Florida Powerball winner is Thomas Yi, 23, of Land O’ Lakes. He claimed the $235.4 million jackpot prize from the drawing that was held on March 27, 2021. For this winner, 2021 is the year of good luck. He also opted for a lump-sum cash payment of $160,038,447.23 (after-tax).
Interestingly, this winner did not believe he had won. He said that he had to take his ticket to the retailer to have it checked. It was a life-changing moment for him. He is also the youngest Powerball jackpot winner in the history of Florida.
Yi said he wants to get higher education in a medical or business field despite the money he had just won. We wish him luck and, he is a clear indication that anyone can win the jackpot.
Elizabeth Johnson almost did not win the $2 million jackpot
This Powerball winner bought her ticket for the Wednesday draw but was too late for that. She missed the cutoff time but made it for the Saturday draw and won the $2 million jackpot. What looked like ill fate turned out to be good luck for her.
After claiming the lump-sum payment of $1,415,001 (after tax), she said she would buy a house. She also planned to go with her kids to Disneyland.
You also can be a Powerball winner but, this can only happen if you buy a ticket. Why not purchase a ticket today to enter the next draw. You never know when the winning numbers will be yours.
